Who we are…

Leanne Costantino – Creative Director

With over 20 years’ experience in creative project management, Leanne is a highly experienced, strategy focused creative director who has worked with a diverse range of brands within the marketing, communication, design and publishing sectors.

Leanne has shaped marketing communication materials across camping, outdoor, home and lifestyle brands including Darche, Companion, Campfire, Maxwell & Williams and Krosno, with extensive experience in developing successful brand positioning strategies and communication style guides.

She gained much of her publishing experience with a boutique publishing house, where she specialised in anniversary books. She project-managed the production of high-end coffee-table books for Arnott’s Biscuits (150 years), Best’s Wines (150 years), Akubra, Charles Parsons (150 years) and many more. Most recently, Leanne has provided creative direction and project management for Venus Bay Surf Lifesaving Club’s 60th anniversary book, and ILBIJERRI Theatre Company’s 30th anniversary campaign.

With expertise in both traditional and digital marketing strategy, and an understanding of engaging story-telling across both print and digital mediums, her skills are highly sought by our clients.

Blake Walshe – Graphic/Digital Design

Blake has a bachelor degree in communication design. Blake has been chief designer for How and Why Creative’s recent anniversary projects, including ILBIJERRI Theatre Company’s 30th anniversary campaign. In addition to overall concept and fine-grained design, he digitised archives and combined flat plans (page plans) with content plans, meticulously paring images with written content to ensure the book production process went smoothly. Throughout, he consistently applied brand style as appropriate for each client.

Blake is an integrated graphic and digital designer, with the skills and experience to turn print materials into interactive and responsive online content, from dynamic video content (such as interviews) and social content, through to audiovisual web materials and carousels that can tell a story. Blake’s exceptional eye for detail and brand style has evolved from the printed page to the moving image; he is now art director on all How and Why Creative productions. Blake’s creative vision and brand experience creates consistent content across platforms, with exceptional production quality.

He has shot for National Geographic / BBC in Australia and Africa, and won an Australian Cinematographers Society Silver Award for recent work in the Philippines. Rocco brings three decades of technical and creative experience to How and Why clients. His expertise in traditional film as well as digital formats gives him an edge when it comes to capturing the moving image on the fly, while framing the landscape in all its glory.

Taras Mohamed – Photographer / Videographer

Taras has over twenty-five years’ experience as a professional photographer and videographer. With his unique approach he has created compelling imagery for advertising agencies, design studios, community organisations and large corporations, working on projects ranging from product and lifestyle photography, visual storytelling, portraiture, profiles and content creation.

Taras has a knack for drawing on the environment and landscape to create aspirational imagery through composition, framing the most inspiring aspects of every location. But his real talent lies in making people comfortable. Even with an untrained subject, Taras is able to put them at ease and help them to open up in front of the camera. On Darche’s 30th anniversary campaign, he worked with the company’s original founder (Darren O’Dwyer) with a mixture of direct-to-camera filming and lifestyle shots to build an engaging video piece. Taras’s easy-going nature ensures crew and talent feel relaxed and comfortable on set; he is able to draw the most out of models and presenters at all levels of on-camera experience.

Taras tells engaging stories through dynamic and engaging content for digital platforms. Whether using still images or video, he follows the brief to deliver excellent imagery and bring out the best in his subjects. An accredited drone operator, Taras’s highly skilled technical ability and easy working manner provides How and Why Creative clients with quality creative solutions for every brief.
